WIKI Help Needed!

Hey guys, the wiki is our responsibility, and if we want to keep having such an awesome accessible tool then we have to keep it up to date! Please check this thread from time to time so you can best know how to help the Wiki admins keep the site up and running. If notice something missing or incorrect on the wiki, please post it here or PM Legendslayer or Mamoncrief and we will address it as soon as possible! Thanks!

Recent Updates:
Updated a number of mercs, lethals especially, that still needed updating from the great nerf. All lethals should now accurately reflect their weakened selves.
Added an "About" link at the bottom of the page where previously it sent to an empty destination.
Basics FAQ finished! Check it out and tell me if there is anything else we need on it

How You Can Help:
1. Check the Future Updates and see what I need help on!
2. A few people willing to learn how to upload mercs. This is an easy process, takes about 5 minutes to upload a whole family. I want to have a couple of people on this so when a new event comes out the information gets up there swiftly and accurately.
3. Fact Checking! If you have PE, OPE, pact, etc versions of mercs, check to make sure the stats are accurate. If you can, upload a picture to the merc page as well, just so there is some record.
4. Missing or incomplete information. Everyone can do this! If you go to the Wiki and don't find what you are looking for, send Legend or Myself a PM so we can get it updates.

How is it all done?

Are the pages all edited manually, or can you script wiki page creation (for the mercs) from the json?

I've been saving screenshot for months. Here's some random information deciphered from pics from oldest to newest:

I also notice the wiki was lacking info on the Splicer Androids...

Oh yeah, I would also mine the Fatal Frontier Facebook page as that has lots of info/pics as well in the depths of that dungeon...

The easy part is the mercs, that is just a matter of having the time and patience to copy the images and templates off the Json, and in the idealest of situations make sure it's all correct.

The hard part, at least for me, is everything else haha. I am essentially trying to steal code from prior pages and insert current information into it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I am getting there.

It's mostly a matter of content that I need help with- people finding out which mercs are missing, which mercs have incomplete information, which pages are most in need of updating (like events) and helping me by providing the content to fill in those blanks so I can update the wiki with more than just a copy/paste from the json once a week.

^^ needs a team. A couple people handle specific stuff, get it all together and someone (you?) posts it to the site

Getting people interested in donating their time is the hard part

I was able to trivialize the merc addition process so we can at least focus on some more of the meta level stuff. I applaud your initiative, Mamoncrief, and will help out where I can.

Mainly my hope from this post was that people could help me do some of that leg work.... mining the FB page for posts that we should have on the wiki, important updates and releases that should get a page, and helping me remember that chronology. I'll do what I can to get it up, and it will be a nice side project for me to work on in my limited free time.

If people could just get comfortable to the point that when something crops up that is wrong/should be on the wiki they just send me a PM, and me, legend, or any of the other people who want to lend a hand can make it happen.

Alright, I was thinking about it while I was getting my pregnant wife candy and tylenol at the local rite-aid, and I think this will be the best way.

If you are willing to help me actually work on uploading stuff to the wiki (would love to have a couple of people helping with mercs and such) get in touch with me on the wiki itself.

Then if I could get someone to help me with the facebook, messaging or emailing me pictures from there so I can throw them on the wiki.

For everyone else, just improve general awareness of the existence of the wiki so more people can use it and enjoy it so the people who are helping to make it happen can feel all warm and fuzzy. Maybe we could even get a sticky for forum update help, if I have earned a favor from one of the moderators.

Sounds great to me man i really like the wiki page especially when its useful and updated. I spent a TON of time there when i first started playing and still visit it a couple times a week

My victory today was creating a page for the new pvp event, and adding it as the current event to the front page of the wiki. It has been set as Infinity gates 9 for like 3 months now haha.

A better source for mining is the events pages here on the forum.  Loads of data (and opinions) there for the farmer to extract.

All event info updated. Still looking for pictures so I can build pages out for the events purely for reference.

Found a few more squadmates (knuckledriver and switchblade buzzard) that were missing from the list, added those.

Working on some other ancillary pages tonight, hopefully tomorrow or thursday I'll have the front page updated as well.

Also, @aces. You expressed an interest in helping, make a profile over on the wiki, and I can show you the walkthroughs for adding mercs. If you could help take some of that task, it would be helpful. If you want to, that is.

Also, also, also.... any word on a sticky? I think creating a new thread as a sticky in Q&A for Wiki Update help would be a great tool.

Hey everyone! Friendly wiki update for you all.

First off, I am pleased to announce a wiki contest! Despite the best efforts of the wiki mods, info is still missing or incorrect. It's mostly cause we are human, and sometimes because we are we lazy

Regardless, it is super hard for one person to find and fix all these errors. So I decided to concoct a contest to both A: get newer players familiar with the wiki and B: get some help finding this missing or erroneous data.

I'm sure just waiting for me to get to the point right? Ok, well here it is. For the individual who find the most correctable errors on the wiki I am going to be giving away your choice of a:

Siren Maiden, CXB-2000U, Canis Bulwark, or Na'Lac Angered!

As an added bonus, anyone who finds over 10 errors will receive 5 PS automatically!

Just think, if you don't have a blue bot, this could be your shot to pick one up FOR FREE!

Fixes must be PM'd to me on the forum or on the wiki, first time-stamped message for each fix gets credit. Spelling, grammar, mislabeled, misfiled, or missing content are all valid errors, whether or not an error counts is the sole discretion of myself and only myself. Contest will run from today October 7th until November 15th at 12am PST. Prizes will be distributed Sunday the 17th. I will be checking correction records for each file before awarding a point for the fix, so don't even think of going in and tampering with the files in order to rack up false fixes :)IF you go ahead and make the fix yourself (those that know how to work the wiki) please still PM me about it as well so I don't lose track of it.

Tell your friends about the wiki and the contest! If we get enough participation, I'll let the second place fixer pick from whatever is left! Improve the wiki! Get free stuff!

Depending on the stats of the mercs actually. If Siren Maiden is OPE / POPE I'll go for her because I never had her before but it's one hell of a annoying merc to face in PvP. If the CXB-2000U is OPE / POPE, then my decision is made already. :')

For those looking to score some easy victories... they change the skill wording around a lot and there may be some inconsistencies there to find. Just compare the WIKI with the latest from the JSON. I fixed two of them already today as I was just casually browsing.

It was actually those finds that spurred me to do this. Alternatively, you can simply search the merc in the exchange to check wordings and stats and such.

For instance, I know the stats on a pe fug bug jowel are incorrect because I have one and you can't use that one anymore haha

Cause I'm a just a hard core bro like that haha. 

When I first started out, all the way back at the dawn of the game, I was running 2 ope jowels, and 2 ope wicked dynamaniacs. It was a proto-nuke team for the world before eve/siren/lockdown/pretty much every other nuker in the game haha the wiki doesn't mention that a ope jowel ends up with about 13k wis and 13k atk. Back in the day that was hard core damage. Combined with the dynamaniacs which did about the same damage, it was a pretty solid team! Sometimes I really miss that team haha.

my favorite team was ultra mutant-primarch-ultra mutant-primarch-auto turrent. i could run through 30 pvp now it is so much harder

Great contest idea! I'd enter but I don't need the mercs, it's not because I'm lazy at all, nope, not that at all..... You might want to start a new thread for this contest. A lot of the newbs might think they can't help with the wiki and avoid this thread.

I was thinking that posting here, as well as posting in trade would be enough... I don't want to inundate the whole forum. So far the response has been great. A lot of *cough* non lazy players have been perusing the forum and found a ton of missing data that needs updating. Now I got all the work of updating everything haha.
