Saying Goodbye

It's finally time to put both Fatal Frontier and Blood Brothers behind me.

A large part of it comes from the frustration and exhaustion of remaining competitive. The top spots have been increasingly falling out of my grasp due to the growing pay-to-win model and the broken pvp scaling system. But the worst part of it has been the urge to always be within wifi. I have no data plan. Over the past couple of months whenever I am out of the house even with friends, I'm always finding myself worrying about how long it would take for me to get back so that I don't fall too behind. It goes without saying that it has been one of the worst gaming addictions in my life.

I have just become disgusted by how much I have become a slave to this game. I couldn't even focus on one task for more than 45 minutes without being interrupted by the urge to use up regenerating ammo. It doesn't help either that the devs are increasingly blatant with their money grubbing.

That said, I have already uninstalled the games off my phone and tablet. I would have liked to give away all my powerful squadmates away and I don't necessarily like the idea of having my many ultra mutants, primarchs, mordeos, sirens, coldfires, potential blazes, and more sitting around in limbo, but I can't stand to face the game any longer. Unlike tankatc, I believe my own best cure is simply cold turkey in the most spontaneous fashion possible, similar to how Robert Downey Jr. broke his drug addiction.

The only way to get my squadmates back in the game would be real money offers to which I am available via PM. Even though I have stood against real money transactions, at this point it no longer applies to me since I am no longer playing the game.

If an offer to buy everything all at once goes through, it would take several days to transfer everything over from my main account since my main account is connected to my Facebook account and obviously I will not give away my Facebook login credentials. I am also open to selling individual squadmates or packets of them of your choosing.

I should also be entering pharmacy school in the near future, so if anyone has any moral qualms over this, you can think of it as funding my education.

With this, I leave this forum that I have thoughtfully pieced together as well as this community. It's certainly been fun, but that sense of fun is no longer there.

The only other admin is OKRedleg, and it seems we haven't heard from him in a while. For this reason, I'll be appointing some new admins and mods.

To anyone else who feels like they are in a similar situation or are on the edge, I recommend uninstalling the game (you can always reinstall it) and seeing whether you like the feel of the lifted burden. Give it an hour, sleep on it, etc. - whatever you think works best for you.

Sorry to hear you go but it's understandable. I also will be slowing down on the game and going more causal on it. Their are so many other games to play.

Don't go to pharmacy school. Or at least seriously reconsider...

I'm really hinging on whether or not I can get into USC (currently on Active Consideration). If I can, I don't see any problems with employment. If not, maybe I'll wait another year.

Trust me, it wasn't. I've been thinking about doing it over the better part of several weeks. I tried to spice things up but the broken PVP scaling system coupled with programmed proc failure at 6+ win streaks are just too much of a hassle. Then I started doing the 20k points per 15 minutes method yesterday and that was more or less the point when I decided the game was no longer worth my time and effort.

I haven't posted much but was a regular reader from the last month and a half or so and you were the one of the people that made this work. You put so much time, effort and knowledge into it that i'm really sad to see you go.

I just had a match 6 and to prove your point I went single shot. Neither of my buffs happened then my siren killed his Betty then 3 of his fams procd 2 times each while none of mine did. One of the slowest most ridiculous defeats I've watched.

After this event I'm going to make a OPE firebear and then delete the game. I've played some city building type games before and remember setting alarms and always having to get home at a certain time so my stuff wouldn't get destroyed and it sucked. This game makes me wake up a lot at night because I don't want to waste my free energy, I also have t charge my phone 4x as before I started playing.

I think you'll enjoy having time and less worry/stress. And pharm school is still pretty good. My friend got her masters last year and is doing fine. She's in a PhD program now, I think. Just make sure you work/intern while in school.

Lanseal, thanks for all your help and the time you invested in this community and the wiki. It sucks to see you go but you know whats best for you. Good Luck in your endeavors.

Yes, those games are a dime a dozen. Before BB and FF I was an Ikariam player with millions of points. I gave that account away.

In lieu of some people telling me to reword my goodbye statement involving money trades, I am considering trading my FF squadmates for BB familiars and resources. I've always been a mediocre player in BB (best I've ever done was top 4000 when I actually tried) and so continuing that game wouldn't be stressful at all for me.

I would even downsize to one account and play it far more sparingly like when there really isn't anything else to do (e.g. my super easy community college classes like Statistics where I would just spend hours playing this and BB and go on Reddit and when I'm only there for the attendance).

I know that people have been trying to trade BB for FF, but those topics never get any replies. Well, here's your chance!

Thanks, I've already thought about it but it's difficult to go from a top player to a mediocre one, watching everyone go past you. There is also the urge to make PE builds, and where would I get the remaining squadmates required to make one without paying money that I don't have?

Speaking of the devs - we were all discussing how we should chill out on the 4th day cuz 5th day it's so competitive to remain 5 stars... guess what? They changed it so that everyday you must rank up or not get your 5 stars. Seriously anything good on this forum that gets discussed gets nerfed, immediately.

Part of the reason I'm quitting is cuz I'm fed up with the dev's attitude that if anything benefits the players, let's change it to be tougher.

Yeah I noticed that they postponed group battles for 1 day or so, so that max rank could only be obtained by ranking everyday. This was almost immediately after we were talking about the method of hanging back a day to get easier groups and to not worry about being demoted on the last day. Maybe I should delete the forums before it hurts you guys even more lol.

Can someone name something the developers that have done that was Positive as a result of the forum? Honestly it seems like they've been using this forum as a source of information to make gameplay more difficult for everyone only.
