| Hi everyone, I am Mamoncrief!
Many of you may already know me, but I felt like this was the PERFECT time for me to reintroduce myself, as well as speak out about the state of the game.
So first off, maybe a little about me? I am 27 years old, live and work in Los Angeles California. I am a minister of a small church, and work primarily with the youth there. I am recently married, and my wife and I are expecting our first kid at the end of March. My hobbies include video games, pretending I know stuff about computers, going to grad school, doing the stuff my wife tells me to do, guitar and music, and playing with my two awesome dogs, Dobby (boxer) and Dean (Shiba Inu/German Shepherd Mix). I started playing FF 11 months ago now, so I find myself in the unique position of being one of the veteran players of the game. Currently I have found a wonderful pastime (as well as educational opportunity!) in the form of being one of the Fatal Frontier Wiki Guru's, as well lurking around here to add my two cents to any thread I can find.
Now some thoughts on the game. This has been a crazy month, both in the game and forums. We have seen some drama, some whining and complaining, some infighting among our members here. But we have also seen tons of new players discovering this game for the first time, pushing to higher rankings, had some real victories, and celebrated and encouraged each other. Game content has been steadily improving, but game mechanic tampering has also been on the rise.
We have lost some beloved members, like Ryback, Strappavelli, Duavae, and Eros. But we have gained many many more new members like Dohnson69, Phuquit, Orzhov, Nume78, Trob1831, Caya, Iginn2003, Kornstiener, and Molotov, just to name a few.
So it is time for this new generation to step into the big shoes left the prior one, and I feel like now is an excellent time to be playing FF.
To that end, this is as much our game as it is Dakota's, and I have suggestions for US as a community.
First is get a few friends involved. This game is wonderfully competitive, and fantastically cooperative. I trudged through for a long time solo, but it was when that I got my friends and family involved that it started to really capture my interest. Having some people to compete against, but also cooperate with for the greater good made a huge difference. So get a few friends to play!
Second, don't push yourself harder than want, or expect to do better than you can. Anyone in this game can earn a lethal, and anyone can be competitive. That is the reason why I play this game over the multitude of other free games like it. Not many games boast a setup like that. However, that doesn't mean lethals are a right. It took me 4 months of stupid playing and 1 month of smart playing to earn my first lethal. From that point on, however, I steadily rose in the rankings to where I am now. But if you can't, or don't have the resources to play 2-3 hours each day during a competition, don't. And don't get mad when you don't. The middle class of this game is pretty forgiving. And TFB will always be there.
Third, remember it's a game. Sometimes games stop feeling like games, and start to feel like a casino where you put your money in and get a Hissing Fug Bug back. Or a job, where you put in huge hours and feel drained after. Just stop! Remember it is a game. It's OK for it to be a competitive game, but it isn't a casino and it certainly isn't a job! I could go for an L every single event, but I don't, because I need a social life and time with my family more than I need every L that get's released. Now when one does come out I want, I feel refreshed, and I push for it. No different than playing any other game. But the important is to remember that is what it is. Don't let it feel like anything else.
Fourth, ask questions, visit the wiki, and post here often. When you are a part of the community, the community has your back. If you post here once and then walk away like I did back in December, no one can help you. I made so many mistakes, and by the time I finally decided to speak up here I had already learned most of my tough lessons. By being a part of the community it adds depth and purpose to the game, as well as encouragement and answers from other players. This board will always be close to my heart because it is here I met people like Fightin' Frank, who have left a profound impact on me. We got a cool community with this game, so be a part of it.
If you do these four things, this game will still have the same excitement for you as it does for me, even after almost a year of playing. It is easy to look at the names of the people retiring and wonder if the game has a future, but for each one of those forum members that has passed into retirement 3-4 have joined. I have faith that FF will continue to move forward, and I want to encourage all of you to keep building and keep improving, because I can't wait to see who the new Strappavelli and Duavae and Alusteuphoric will be.

| That's one hell of an introduction, took me like 10 minutes to read it. ^.^ We're happy to have you in the community buddy, for who you are as a person and for all you've done so far.
PS: You made me laugh so much with "pretending I know stuff about computers". ^.^

| I started right at the end of December/early jan and played the turret engineer hellcat event, but didn't place, then I used my level.ups to win a whopping 1 ice bot in the golem raid. That was my start haha | |

| Yeah but as I mentioned in the above post, I had four months of being a noob before I figured out what the heck I was doing haha. If I could roll back time to that moment and re do it knowing what I know now, It would have been an incredible time to start haha. I didn't earn a L till vibriss last may. And those first few L's I earned were pretty lack luster compared the ones before and the ones we are getting currently. | |

| I allied with no one haha. I had no allies yet by that time. Which is why I found this place, looking for someplace that could find me allies. I wrote and introduction thread, which I kind of considered necro-ing, and got a few guys and no allies haha. I am glad to say the board has progressed since then | |

| You have given away almost as much as you have taken bud haha. But none the less, I appreciate the compliment.
And regardless of the how or why, two top 10 finishes is insane. People don't understand what kind of commitment that takes.

| Yeah its pretty crazy man. I only pushed on 1 raid, 2 tower and one pvp. Finishing with two Lv2's and one Lv1 and was amazed on how crazy it gets at the top lol
You can be finished like 60-40 and figure ahh this aint too bad lol .....now sit in the top 25 and watch the madness lol
